A critical avionics subsystem responsible for controlling, monitoring and managing the safe extension and retraction of an aircraft's landing gear.
The Landing Gear Controller (LGC) is a critical avionics subsystem responsible for controlling, monitoring, and managing the operation of an aircraft's landing gear system. It ensures the safe extension and retraction of the landing gear during takeoff and landing while continuously monitoring the status of actuators, sensors, hydraulic systems, and locking mechanisms.
The LGC receives commands from the cockpit landing gear control lever and processes input signals from position sensors, proximity switches, weight-on-wheel sensors, and hydraulic or electromechanical actuators. Based on these inputs, it controls the landing gear deployment and retraction sequence, verifies gear lock status, and provides visual and audible indications to the flight crew. It also incorporates fault detection, Built-In Test (BIT), and safety interlocks to ensure reliable operation under all flight conditions.
Designed to meet stringent aerospace standards, the Landing Gear Controller offers high reliability, fault tolerance, and real-time performance. It is engineered to operate in harsh environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, vibration, shock, and electromagnetic interference, making it suitable for both military and commercial aircraft.
